What is IP ConverterConverter

If you want to access the benefits of LCC’s IP DirectConnect, but the PBX on site is not enabled to support SIP then Converter can solve the problem.
The Converter solution allows PBXs and Customer Premises Equipment to connect to the IP DirectConnect service via a range of devices that converts "traditional" voice services to a SIP Trunking Service.
The Converter solution range can support connections from devices with analogue, ISDN2 , ISDN30 and DASS2 interfaces , with all connections being converted to a standard SIP interface.
By using a Converter solution customers can upgrade their connection from ISDN to IP without the expense associated with changing or upgrading the on site PBX.
The Converter solution can also be configured to provide a high availability at a customer's site by supporting both ISDN and SIP connections in a single unit , allowing routing via either network , thus providing a highly resilient on site connection for the PBX.
Converter is ideal for small/ medium offices and business with multiple sites and remote users. Its focus is to offer IP connectivity without the cost and disruption of replacing the current PBX to gain both free on net calls and cheaper PSTN calls.

How can Converter benefit YOUR BUSINESS

  • Brings IP functionality to traditional PBX’s
  • Free calls between linked sites and lower call costs
  • Call Management features which include remote control of inbound and outbound telephony
  • A scaleable service on a per channel basis
  • If the IP connection goes down, existing ISDN automatically kicks in for emergency backup
  • Includes DDI ranges and CLI presentation in the price
  • Allows prioritisation of IP telephony calls over other data in shared IP connections

How does it work?

The legacy PBX is connected via a broadband connection at the customer premises to the LCC core IP network using the IP Direct Connect service.

The ‘Converter’ unit sits in between the existing ISDN trunk lines of the PBX and acts as a gateway to LCC’s IP network. Both incoming and outgoing calls made by the customer will travel over broadband connection to the LCC core IP network and at that point access to the PSTN will be made and will be routed as usual.

So if you want...
√ Fail-safe. If your IP connection goes down, the existing ISDN automatically kicks in for emergency backup
√ A very scaleable service, unlike ISDN
√ Savings from rationalising your ISDN lines
√ Free site to site calls and lower call cost landline calls
